Meet the Trainer
Adelaide “Addie” Lloyd earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Stetson University in Spring 2022, graduating with double majors in Marketing and Professional Sales. She went on to complete her Master of Business Administration in Spring 2024, combining her business acumen with her lifelong passion for working dogs.
An avid waterfowl and upland game bird hunter, Addie has been immersed in the sporting lifestyle from an early age. Her journey into the world of gundogs began in April 2017 with her Golden Retriever, Shadow Hill’s Boone Doc. Originally trained as her personal hunting companion, Boone made countless memorable retrieves alongside her family and quickly became the foundation of her passion for retriever training. Under Addie’s guidance, Boone earned multiple hunt test and performance titles, igniting her commitment to developing dogs that excel in both performance and partnership. Today, Addie actively trains and campaigns her personal dogs in retriever and upland venues while continuing to expand her expertise within the sporting dog community. She is a licensed HRC Judge and former President of the Southern Boykin Spaniel Club, reflecting her dedication to leadership, education, and the continued advancement of the sport she loves dearly.
“Having been in the industry for nearly 10 years, I have had the privilege of professionally training several hundred dogs across a wide range of breeds, temperaments, and training objectives. With years of professional experience and dogs trained across a wide variety of breeds, temperaments, and training objectives, I have developed a results-driven approach built on consistency, efficiency, and accountability. Throughout my career, I have repeatedly been responsible for taking dogs from foundation work to finished performance while meeting specific training standards and established deadlines. That experience has taught me not only how to problem solve with dogs of various temperaments, but how to do so systematically and reliably without compromising quality or overpromising results. I know my capabilities and limitations as a trainer, and I believe in setting honest expectations from the very beginning. Rather than overpromising and underdelivering, I provide realistic evaluations, transparent communication, and a training plan designed to achieve lasting results based on the individual dog in front of me. My reputation has been built on consistently producing trained dogs that meet—and often exceed—the goals established for them by both the owners and myself.”
Our Training Philosophy
At Shadow Hill Gundogs, we believe there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all training program. Every dog possesses a unique combination of genetics, temperament, maturity, and drive, while every owner has different goals and expectations. We develop a customized training plan for each dog, adjusting both the content and length of the program to produce the best possible outcome. Our training philosophy is rooted in balanced training, utilizing all four quadrants of operant conditioning to communicate clearly and effectively with each individual dog. By rewarding desired behaviors, providing fair and appropriate corrections when necessary, and tailoring our approach to the dog's personality and learning style, we build reliable, confident companions that understand both what is expected of them and how to succeed. Every training journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation, allowing us to assess your dog's current abilities, temperament, and behavioral needs before recommending the program best suited to help you achieve your goals.
Every training program at Shadow Hill Gundogs begins with a private training evaluation at our farm in Campbellton, Florida. Evaluations are conducted by appointment only, typically last about 90 minutes, and include a tour of our property. During your visit, we'll discuss your goals, evaluate your dog's temperament, drive, and current level of training, and recommend the program best suited to help you achieve those objectives. This one-on-one consultation ensures every dog begins training with a clear, individualized plan. Ready to get started?
